Small-scale Technology Credits STC's (formerly RECs)
• STCs are a form of electronic currency that is generated when a new energy efficient hot water system is installed. They are traded, and eventually surrenderred to demonstrate liability compliance against the requirements of the Australian Government's mandatory renewable energy target. (i.e. power stations buy them to help meet their renewable energy target)
• There are now two ways to convert STC's to $$$
We can discount the current value of STC's off the price of your new solar hot water system, selling them through a dealer, or, you can trade them youself through the Government's STC Clearing house for a greater price. • Each solar hot water system is given a REC rating by an impartial Government process. The higher the value of the RECs rating, the better the system performs.
